Butler sophomores Lewis Cain and Jade Searles are the Butler Athletes of the Week, presented by the Marines.
Lewis Cain, Men's Track & Field
Cain, a sophomore from Carisbrook, Australia, set the Butler school record for most points scored in the men's indoor pentathlon at Herm Wilson Invitational in Wichita on Saturday. Cain scored 4,371 points, breaking the previous record of 4,236, set by Austin Rembert at the 2010 Region VI Indoor Championships. Competing against a field of NCAA Division I athletes in the event, Cain finished ninth overall.
Jade Searles, Women’s Track & Field
Searles, a sophomore distance runner from Bridgetown, Barbados, helped the Grizzly women's 4x800-meter relay team to a first-place time of 9:45.15 at the Herm Wilson Invitational on Saturday. The time currently ranks first in the nation among NJCAA women. Also at the Wilson Invitational, Searles finished first among junior college runners in the 800-meter run, crossing the line with a national indoor qualifying time of 2:26.67.
