Butler alum Matt Jacobs became Butler's first Assistant Athletic Director in 2007 and was named Associate Athletic Director in 2014.
In that role, Jacobs handles media relations duties for all of Butler's sports, while also having responsibilities in compliance, fundraising, marketing, game management and overall administration.
He has played a part in all of Butler's major athletic initiatives over the past five years, including fundraising efforts for new locker rooms for football, men's and women's basketball, soccer and track and field, a new outdoor dugout/press box facility for soccer and the new BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.
Jacobs also spearheaded the creation of the new www.butlergrizzlies.com website in 2011 as well as the creation of Butler's social media strategy including athletic department facebook, twitter and YouTube accounts.
Before coming to Butler, Jacobs spent nearly four years as a writer in the Marketing Communications department at Butler. He also has nearly a decade of experience as a journalist, working at both the Manhattan (Kan.) Mercury and the El Dorado (Kan.) Times. Jacobs also worked for one year in sports information at NCAA Division II Newman University.
Jacobs earned an associate's degree from Butler in 1999 and completed undergraduate work at Kansas State University and Friends University and is currently completing his master's degree in education with an emphasis sport administration at Wichita State University.
