WICHITA, Kan. - Butler sophomore Alfred Larry was the top individual for the Grizzly men's outdoor track and field team at the K.T. Woodman Classic this weekend, as he placed in three events - including a top finish in the 400-meter dash.
Running in the final heat of the 400m, Larry crossed the line first with a time of 47.02 seconds and winning by .62 milliseconds. Sophomore teammate Steven Calloway, running in the previous heat, placed third with a 48.22 time. Both Larry and Calloway set personal bests in the event.
In the men's 200-meter dash, Larry and Breaux set personal marks and finished fifth and sixth, respectively, despite running in separate heats. Larry finished with a 21.29 time, while Breaux was just behind him at 21.30 seconds. Calloway placed 10th with a 21.57 time.
The women's team did not have a top 10 finish, but the 4x100-meter relay team of Kiarra Baker, Ashanna Hodge, Sueshi-Ann Halliman and Nhaieemah Horne recorded a season-best time of 49.60 seconds. Baker (200m dash), Jonelle Reinert (400m dash) and Janell Kidd (1500m run) also set personal-bests on the season in their respective events.
Butler will send a portion of its team to the Kansas Relays at the University of Kansas this weekend. The event will be the Grizzlies' last before the Region VI Championships, which begin May 1.
