LaBadie earns KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week honors

For the third consecutive week, a Butler soccer player has earned Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week honors.

Paige LaBadie, a sophomore from Horizon High School in Thornton, Colo.,  was named the KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week. She allowed one goal, which came on a direct free kick following a Butler foul, in a 1-1 tie against No. 4 Tyler.

Labadie is now 1-1-2 on the season with all four games being played against nationally-ranked teams. She has a shutout over No. 11 St. Louis and ties against No. 3 Navarro and No. 4 Tyler with a loss against No. 5 Otero.

Labadie joins Madison Wedekind and Rosa Urista-Chico as Grizzlies to earn the conference honors. Wedekind was the KJCCC Player of the Week on Sept. 8 after scoring the game-winning goals in two games against St. Louis and Northern-Oklahoma-Tonkawa, while Urista-Chico was co-Player of the Week on Sept. 1 after scoring a goal against No. 4 Laramie County and having a goal and an assist against No. 2 Navarro.

Butler, which is 3-3-2 on the season and ranked No. 17 in the latest NJCAA poll, opens conference play this weekend with a two-day road trip to Western Kansas. The Grizzlies will play at Garden City on Friday night and at Dodge City on Saturday afternoon.
