After having a nine-game winning streak snapped over the weekend, the Butler women's volleyball dropped five spots to 17th in the NJCAA Division II Top 20 national poll, which was released Wednesday.
The Grizzlies (23-6 overall, 5-2 conference) went 4-1 over the week, beginning with a three-set sweep of Fort Scott on Wednesday. At the Lincoln Land Invitational in Springfield, Ill., Butler fell in its opening match against sixth-ranked Lincoln Land. The Grizzlies finished out the invitational with three wins over Illinois schools - defeating Harper College, Kankakee and John A. Logan.
Butler is one of four KJCCC schools ranked this week. For the sixth consecutive week, Cowley (24-4) is ranked No. 1, while Johnson County (22-5) remained ranked third. Neosho County (25-5) dropped one spot to 19th.
Butler hosts Kansas City Kansas (15-9 overall, 5-2 conference) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. After having the weekend off, the Grizzlies will host Independence on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in their final home match of the season.
