Butler wins two games in Oklahoma before rain comes

BIXBY, Okla. – The Butler softball team won two games at the Midwest Juco Classic before rain forced the cancellation of the second day of the event.
On Saturday, Butler defeated Jayhawk East and NJCAA II power Labette by a 4-0 score, then smoked Murray State (Okla.) by a 9-1 score in five innings.
Butler is now 23-1 on the season. This is the best start in Butler softball history. The Grizzlies will not play again until this weekend when they are scheduled to play five games in two days at the Carthage Bash in Missouri.

Maggie Ham was once again stellar inside the circle, striking out eight and allowing just one run in the complete-game victory. She is now 11-0 on the season with 113 strikeouts in just 67 innings of work with a 1.59 ERA.
Offensively, Domi O'Nelio played a part in all four Butler runs, scoring two and driving in two.
The Grizzlies got a run on the board quickly when O'Nelio singled and scored on a single by Kate James in the first inning.
Those two teamed up again in the third inning when O'Nelio singled, advanced to third on a single by Kaitlyn Wolken and scored on a sacrifice fly by James.
In the seventh, Alyssa Aguilar doubled and Aston Atwell walked. Both then scored on a double to left by O'Nelio.
O'Nelio finished the game going 3-4, while James was 2-3. They were the only Grizzlies with multiple hits.

Mac Millspaugh turned in Butler's second stellar pitching performance of the day, striking out seven hitters in five innings of work as she allowed one run on three hits.
