Butler moves to 3-2 in conference with road win at Pratt
PRATT, Kan. – The Butler women continued their run of dominating wins in conference play with a 78-57 win at Pratt on Saturday in the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena.
The Grizzlies, who have now won three straight conference games by at least 18 points, trailed 5-2 early and were down as many as four points at 13-9 with 9:52 left in the first half.
Butler didn't gain the lead until a Tysia Manual layup made it 15-14 with 8:39 in the period. That's when the Grizzlies got in a rhythm offensively and didn't look back. An Ashlee Ivy 3-pointer put Butler up by eight at 26-18 and Shayla Williams made a layup with 2:48 left in the half that put the Grizzlies up by 10 points at 32-22. Butler led 34-27 at the half.
The Grizzlies continued to stretch the lead in the second half. Aliyah Rutledge scored a basket and made a layup with 6:15 to play that put Butler up by 20 for the first time. Butler's biggest lead was 23 points before winning by 21.
Tysia Manual led the Grizzlies with 18 points. She was one of four Grizzlies in double figures. Jamillah Bonner scored 15 while Ashlee Ivy had 13 and Samantha Satterlee scored 10. Maddie Pendry was Pratt's leading scorer with 16 points.
Butler is now 15-4 on the season, 3-2 in Jayhawk West Conference play. The Grizzlies have a big week ahead with a home game against Cloud County on Wednesday and a road game at Seward County on Saturday.
