Butler women’s basketball guard Ashley Singhateh and men’s basketball guard Russell Branch have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of January 6th through January 12th, 2025.

Ashley Singhateh (Women’s Basketball)

Singhateh, a freshman from Maize, Kan., was Butler’s leading scorer last week as they suffered losses to No. 1 Hutchinson at home and Garden City on the road. Singhateh finished the Hutchinson game scoring six points to go with eight rebounds, three steals and two assists. She also played stifling defense holding the top ranked Blue Dragons to just 36.2% shooting. In the loss at Garden City, Singhateh scored a season-high tying 21 points to go with five rebounds. On the season Singhateh is averaging 11.8 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game and 2.7 assists per game.

Russell Branch (Men’s Basketball)

Branch, a sophomore from Barnwell, South Carolina, helped the Grizzlies to a 1-1 week including a road win over Garden City. Branch averaged 21.0 points per game to go with 3.5 assists per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. In Butler’s loss to Hutchinson, Branch scored 18 points to go with six rebounds and three assists. In the road win at Garden City Branch tallied a career-high 24 points also adding five rebounds and four assists. He shot 7-15 from the field.
