Royal, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, helped the No. 13 Grizzlies defeat No. 1 Hutchinson 27-22 on the road Saturday afternoon. Royal was part of the Grizzly defense’s strong effort, holding Hutchinson to a season-low 22 points. The Grizzlies forced six turnovers in the game and Royal came away with two interceptions. He also added 11 total tackles, a career-high. Royal had an interception late in the fourth quarter that helped put a stop to the Blue Dragons as they were driving down the field.
