Butler football linebacker Gabe Welch and cross country runner Emmanuel Otim have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of November 4th through November 10th, 2024.

Gabe Welch (Football)

Welch, a redshirt freshman from Arkansas City, Kan., helped Butler football to a 28-14 home win over Dodge City. Welch and the Grizzly defense held Dodge City to just 14 points and 199 total yards of offense. Welch led Butler in tackles for a third consecutive week, tallying 11 total tackles as well as half a sack. On the season Welch has 52 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.

Emmanuel Otim (Cross Country)

Otim, a freshman from Kikube, Uganda, turned in a third place finish at the NJCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championship in Richmond, Virginia. Otim placed third out of 191 runners, running a 23:36.5 8k. His finish garnered him NJCAA and USTFCCCA All-American status and he was also named the USTFCCCA NJCAAA D1 Central Region Athlete of the Week. His performance helped the team to a fourth place overall finish at the meet.
