Butler women’s basketball guard Keegan Yarick and men’s basketball guard/forward Devonte Reed have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of December 9th through December 15th, 2024.
Keegan Yarick (Women’s Basketball)
Yarick, a freshman from Fort Scott, Kan., helped lead Butler women’s basketball to two dominating wins in conference play a week ago, defeating Colby 69-34 at home and Independence 70-34 on the road. In the win over Colby, Yarick tallied 11 points on 5-13 shooting also adding seven rebounds, three assists and a block. In the road win at Independence, Yarick nearly missed out on a triple-double as she finished with 11 points, nine steals and eight rebounds. The nine steals were a season-high for Yarick.
Devonte Reed (Men’s Basketball)
Reed, a freshman from Syracuse, N.Y., helped the Grizzlies to two more wins a week ago, pushing their conference record to 7-0. The Grizzlies defeated Colby 57-54 at home and Independence 95-91 on the road. Reed continued to play big minutes off the bench for Butler, playing 25+ minutes in both games. In the home win over Colby, Reed finished with 11 points and three rebounds while helping the Grizzly defense hold Colby to just 54 points, their second lowest output of the season. In the road win at Indy, Reed also finished with 11 points while pulling down four rebounds and blocking two shots.
