Elina Syniakova and Markellus Bass

Butler women's basketball player Elina Syniakova and Butler football player Markellus Bass have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of November 9th through November 15th, 2025. 

Elina Syniakova (Women's Basketball)

Sophomore and Lousiana Tech transfer Elina Syniakova helped the Grizzlies go 2-0 at the Ev Kohls Grizzly Classic last week. Syniakova tallied 12 points, three rebounds and one steal in the Grizzlies' 72-41 win over McCook last Thursday. On Friday, Syniakova recorded 16 points on seven of nine shooting, four assists, two rebounds, two steals, and four blocks in the Grizzlies' 100-50 victory over Bethany JV. 

Markellus Bass (Football)

Grizzly sophomore running back Markellus Bass played a huge role in the Grizzlies' 30-10 victory at Dodge City on Saturday. Bass turned in a career day, rushing 17 times for 187 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 11.0 yards per carry. His highlight came on an 81‑yard scoring run in the fourth quarter. The sophomore earned his third Offensive Player of the Week honor this season and continues to lead the nation in rushing yards per game (125.2). Through nine contests, Bass has totaled 1,127 yards and eight touchdowns. Bass is the first 1,000 yard rusher for the Grizzlies since Azhuan Dingle eclipsed 1,195 yards in 2022.
