Bella Holcomb and Mark Debiak
Butler volleyball setter Bella Holcomb and Butler football defensive end Mark Debiak have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of September 14th through September 20th, 2025.
Bella Holcomb (Volleyball)
Butler freshman setter and Andover, Kansas native Bella Holcomb helped the Grizzlies go 1–1 last week, including a 3-0 victory over the Pratt Beavers. Holcomb tallied 60 total assists over the two-match stretch, including 31 against Pratt and 29 against Colby. She also added eight digs across the week. Holcomb currently ranks third in the conference in assists per set, averaging 7.26 assists per set.
Mark Debiak (Football)
Butler sophomore defensive end Mark Debiak had an incredible game in Saturday's 30–27 overtime victory over the Independence Pirates, including a monster second half. Debiak finished the day with seven total tackles, two and a half sacks for a loss of 19 yards, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Late in the fourth quarter, Debiak recovered an Independence fumble and returned it for eight yards. The ensuing Grizzlies possession resulted in a field goal to tie the game at 20–20.
In overtime, Independence received the first possession. On the second play of the drive, Debiak strip-sacked the Pirates' quarterback, and the Grizzlies recovered the fumble. Butler then won the game on a walk-off field goal, 30–27.
