Bio
Garrett Hanks is in his first year as the Associate Athletic Director & Compliance Officer in 2026, having previously served as the Director of Sports Information & Operations in 2025.
In his role, Hanks oversees eligibility and compliance, manages the facilities schedule/calendar, assists with game day operations, as well as assisting the management of the Butler Athletic social media outlets creating content and delivering strategic messaging.
Prior to being the Associate Athletic Director, Hanks served the athletic department as the Director of Sports Information & Operations. In this role, Hanks managed all social media platforms for Butler Athletics, managed the website, wrote press releases, and oversaw statistics. Hanks also managed all gameday operations for Butler Athletic home events including football, volleyball, women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and softball.
In his first year as SID, Hanks oversaw substantial growth across the Grizzlies social media accounts. Instagram jumped from 8,924 followers to 10,053, X (formerly known as Twitter) grew from 16,900 to 18,200, and Facebook followers went from 12,859 to 13,723.
Hanks also previously served as an athletics assistant for the athletic department, where he assisted with compliance and game day operations.
Prior to working in the athletic department, Hanks worked with BCTV as the Live Production & Streaming Media Coordinator, where he produced and directed all live streams for Butler athletic events from 2020-2024.
Hanks also spent time working for the Wichita Wind Surge, the Double-A Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, running camera and operating the instant replay for the in-house video board and for MiLB TV from 2021-2024.
An El Dorado, Kansas native, Hanks received his master's degree from Wichita State in 2025 in sport management. Hanks received his bachelor's degree in sport management from Wichita State University in 2024, with also a minor in workforce leadership. He received his associate's degree in business administration and accounting from Butler Community College in 2022.
