Grizzlies close out regular season with series sweep of Garden City

The Butler Grizzlies ended the season with a bang in the last series of the regular season, earning their second series sweep of the season and clinching home field advantage in the first round of the Region VI tournament with a four game sweep of the Garden City Broncbusters at McDonald Stadium this weekend. The Grizzlies swept the friday doubleheader with a 6-2 win in game one and a 5-2 win in game two before dominating on saturday, winning game one 16-3 before cementing the sweep with an 8-1 victory.
Game One
Braxton Hyde got the win despite just two innings of work, as he earned his fourth victory on the mound, striking out five of the eight batters he faced.
The Grizzlies used six runs on nine hits to earn the game one victory, Sam Siegel starred with three RBIs and Cooper Torres hit his 13th home run of the year as the Grizzlies never trailed.
Game Two
Izack Tiger dominated Garden City in game two, pitching a complete game, allowing only two runs on three hits, striking out 11 batters, the most for a Butler pitcher this season.
The Grizzlies totaled five runs on 12 hits. Hayden Dyer led the team with two RBIs while Zach Brink earned two doubles.
Game Three
A spectacular walk off grand slam from Cache Stone sealed the run rule victory that gave the Grizzlies the series win, as Stone's ninth homer put the icing on the cake of a 12 run victory. Sam Siegel provided the other Butler homer, and Zach Stroh provided three RBIs as Butler's offense cruised at the plate.
Zach Brink earned his third win of the season, pitching five innings and allowing just one run on five hits, striking out four batters.
Game Four
The Grizzlies finished off the regular season with an 8-1 victory. Corbin Tally earned the win, fifth of the year, going six innings and allowing just one run. Tally and Tanner Leslie combined for 10 strikeouts and just two walks in the victory.
Torres and Stone provided the offense again, as they combined for two RBIs each. The Grizzlies earned eight runs on 12 hits in the game four victory.
Butler improves to 32-22 on the year with the series sweep, and finishes the season at 20-12 in conference play. The road to Manhattan begins with the regular season ending, as Butler starts the postseason with a best of three series against the Coffeyville Red Ravens. The winner of that series will move on to one game against either Cowley or Seward with a trip to Manhattan.
