Bio
The 2027 baseball season will be Micah Grover's third on staff at Butler Community College.
Grover serves as Butler's hitting coach while working with the catchers and outfielders. He also serves as the Grizzlies' recruiting coordinator.
In his second season, Butler improved its win total by seven games from the previous year, finishing 32-27 overall and third in the KJCCC West with an 18-14 conference record. Grover helped coach Danny Wideman and Jackson Ellison to All-Region VI honors.
During his first season on staff, the Grizzlies finished 25-28 overall and placed fifth in the KJCCC West. He helped mentor four All-KJCCC selections.
During the summers of 2024 and 2025, Grover served as an assistant coach with the Kansas City Royals Scout Team Program. He coached third base and served as the primary offensive coach for some of the highest-rated players in Kansas.
Grover came to Butler after spending three seasons (2022-24) as an assistant coach at Barton Community College.
While on staff in Great Bend, he helped lead the Cougars to a 133-49 record over three seasons, including back-to-back KJCCC West Division championships in 2022 and 2023. Grover served as the dugout coach while primarily working with the catchers and first basemen. He also handled recruiting responsibilities in Kansas, Texas and Colorado. Barton produced six All-KJCCC student-athletes in 2024, including Jayhawk West MVP Robby Bolin. Grover also mentored honorable mention All-KJCCC catcher Grant Nottleman, who signed with Sam Houston State University.
Before entering the coaching ranks, Grover played at Barton from 2019-21. He totaled 167 career at-bats while posting a .367 on-base percentage with 38 hits and 35 RBIs. His best season came in 2021, when he batted .258 with 32 hits, 31 RBIs and five home runs. He also played two seasons in the Sunflower Collegiate League, first with the Cheney Diamond Dawgs and then with the Great Bend Bat Cats. Grover signed to play at Washburn University before a knee injury ended his playing career and opened the door to coaching.
A Cheney, Kansas, native, Grover was a three-sport athlete at Cheney High School, graduating in 2018. He starred as the Cardinals' quarterback in the fall, small forward in the winter and a versatile contributor on the baseball diamond in the spring. Cheney's football, basketball and baseball teams combined to post a 53-9 record during his senior year. He batted .514 with 37 hits, 42 RBIs, 13 extra-base hits, four home runs and just three strikeouts, earning first-team All-State honors from The Wichita Eagle and Class 3A Kansas Player of the Year honors from KSHSAA.
Grover earned a bachelor's degree in sport management from Fort Hays State University in 2022.
