Former Grizzly Football Head Coach Troy Morrell Selected for Dick Foster Legacy Award
National Football Foundation Recognizes Butler Hall of Famer
Hall of Fame head coach Troy Morrell has been selected to receive the Dick Foster Legacy Award from the Bill Snyder Family/Sunflower Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
Morrell, who spent 14 seasons as head coach of Butler football, will be recognized at an awards dinner in Manhattan on May 7.
The Dick Foster Legacy Award, created last year and awarded posthumously to the Jayhawk Conference coaching legend, is given annually to a Hall of Famer out of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
Morrell served as offensive line coach from 1996-1999 helping the Grizzlies to two national championship victories in that time span under head coach James Shibest. He began as head coach in 2000 coaching from 2000-2014 leading Butler to three national championship wins, 2003, 2007 and 2008. His overall record with the Grizzlies as head coach was 154-22. Morrell was the NJCAA Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2007 and the KJCCC Coach of the Year in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008. You can read more about Morrell's tenure here.

About the Coach Bill Snyder Family/Sunflower Chapter NFF
The Kansas Chapter received its National Football Foundation Charter Nov. 25, 1991, at halftime ceremonies of the Kansas-Missouri football game. It then evolved into the Jayhawk Chapter and later transitioned to the Sunflower Chapter. It was renamed the Bill Snyder Family Sunflower Chapter. Its mission is to recognize outstanding high school seniors who excel on the gridiron, in the classroom and as leaders in their schools and communities.
