Hernandez, Otim Sweep KJCCC Cross Country Runners of the Week Honors for Second Time This Season

EL DORADO, Kan. – Elizabeth Hernandez and Emmanuel Otim were named KJCCC Runners of the Week once again on Tuesday afternoon.

Grizzly sophomore Elizabeth Hernandez earned the KJCCC Women's Runner of the Week honor for the third time this season. She placed fifth out of 262 participants at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri, on Saturday. Hernandez completed the 6K race in 22:11.8, making her the highest-finishing NJCAA runner in the meet.

Grizzly sophomore Emmanuel Otim was named the KJCCC Men's Runner of the Week for the second time this season. He placed third out of 261 participants in the 8K open invitational race at the Gans Creek Classic, finishing in 24:43.9. Otim was the top NJCAA runner in the meet, trailing only two athletes from NCAA Division I University of Colorado. As a team, the Grizzlies placed fourth overall and were the highest-finishing NJCAA team.
