2025 WAC Pitcher of the Year Joins Grizzly Coaching Staff
EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler Community College softball head coach Morgan Bohanan has announced the addition of Meghan Golden as the program's pitching coach.
"I'm super excited to add Meghan Golden to our staff as our pitching coach," Bohanan said. "She is a proven winner at the Division 1 level at GCU and now playing professionally with the Oklahoma City Spark. That experience and knowledge is going to be huge for not only our pitching staff, but our team as a whole."
Golden comes to Butler from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, where she spent the last three seasons as a pitcher for the Lopes. Most recently, Golden was named the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2025 while helping GCU to their fourth-straight WAC championship and NCAA tournament appearance. Golden led all of NCAA Division 1 with a 1.06 ERA, also finishing with a 14-1 record and 70 strikeouts to 25 walks in 2025. Opposing batters hit just .196 off her while she helped GCU accumulate the best team ERA in the nation through the regular season. Golden and the Lopes played in the Tucson Regional and taking on Ole Miss, Santa Clara and Arizona.
Following her graduation from GCU, Golden has spent time this summer playing for the Oklahoma City Spark, a professional softball team that is currently independent. They play their games at Tom Heath Field at Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Across her collegiate career, Golden was an All-Conference selection all four seasons she played. She was an All-Big Sky pick as a freshman at Northern Colorado before transferring to GCU and being named All-WAC for her final three seasons.
At GCU, Golden tossed 298.2 innings across her three seasons, holding a 2.04 ERA, 41-11 record (66 starts) and striking out 298. Opposing batters hit .212 off her. As a sophomore she led the WAC in strikeouts (117) and threw two no-hitters. As a junior she threw four complete game shutouts, finished with a 13-4 record and threw a complete game in a win over Virginia Tech in the Los Angeles Regional, allowing just one run. Her freshman season at UNC saw her lead the team with a 3.81 ERA and a 14-11 record, recording three shutouts and breaking the program single-game strikeout record with 15 against Incarnate Word.
Golden has coaching experience, spending time as a pitching instructor at the Nike Softball Camp in Prescott, Arizona, in 2024. She also helped GCU with their Little Lopes Softball Camps throughout her stay in Phoenix.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a focus in Sports Psychology from Grand Canyon in May of 2025 and was on the Dean's list all three years at GCU.
