Grizzlies Crush Pratt to Remain Perfect

PRATT, Kan. – The Grizzlies overcame a slow start and dominate the Pratt Beavers, 89-63, to go 8-0 heading into Thanksgiving.
Pratt started off the contest going up 9-0 on the Grizzlies heading into the media timeout. The Grizzlies responded out of the timeout, closing the gap and only trailed 13-11 after the end of the first quarter after starting the game 9-0. The Grizzlies would score the first eight points in the second quarter and would follow up by going on a 14-2 run to take a 25-15 lead over Pratt with four minutes to go in the half. Butler out scored Pratt 24-12 in the second quarter to extend their lead 35-23 heading into halftime.
The Grizzlies blew the game open in the second half, outscoring Pratt 54 to 40 in the second half. The Grizzlies were scoring at will from inside and out, and forced 15 Pratt turnovers on the night, converting with 20 points off turnovers. Butler would go onto defeat Pratt 89-63 at the Beaver Dome to remain perfect on the year. The Grizzlies improve to 8-0 on the season, 3-0 in conference play. Pratt falls to 5-3, 1-2 in conference play.
Sophomore Ashley Singhateh stuffed the stat sheet on Tuesday night, finishing with 22 points on nine of 16 shooting, to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Destiny Smith added 19 points off the bench on four of 11 shooting from behind the arc. Smith also had five rebounds and two assists. Sophomore Keegan Yarick had an impressive performance, putting up a 16 point 11 rebound double-double. Mya Mayberry was the final Grizzly to score in double figures, finishing her night with 12 points.
The Grizzlies shot 47.3 percent from the field, and were eight of 24 from three point range. Butler had a number of offensive rebounds to capitalize with 21 second chance points.
Next up: The Grizzlies will host Fort Hays Tech Northwest from the Power Plant in El Dorado on Saturday at 2 p.m.
