The Grizzlies controlled the game from start to finish. Six different players finished in double-figures, and forced 23 Tonkawa turnovers to bounce back after their 71-67 overtime loss at Garden City on Wednesday.
Butler led Tonkawa 20-11 after the first, and only allowed four second quarter points to take a 36-15 lead heading into halftime.
The Grizzlies opened the second half on a 15-0 run to extend their lead 51-15 to put the game out of reach. Butler out scored Tonkawa 51-21 in the second half, including 24 points in the third quarter and 27 in the fourth. The Grizzlies wrap up non-conference play with the win, and turn their full attention to Independence on Wednesday at the Power Plant, set for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
Sophomore Keegan Yarick led the way offensivley for the Grizzlies, finishing her day with 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists on an effecient day shooting, six of 11 from the field. Destiny Smith added 12 points off the bench. Aliyah Green produced a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 13 rebounds, including nine in the first half alone. Kenzie Galliart added 11 points and six rebounds, while Mya Mayberry and Jalyiah Manuel each finished with 10 points.
Butler had 14 steals and 20 assists on 33 made baskets. The Grizzlies outrebounded Tonkawa 47-30, and only committed eight turnovers on the day.
The Grizzlies sweep Northern Oklahoma - Tonkawa, having previously beaten the Mavericks 92-49 in the first game of the season back on November 1st.
