EL DORADO, Kan. – The Grizzlies held strong in a clash with rival No. 12 Hutchinson on Wednesday night.
This was the 31st all-time meeting between the Grizzlies (3-5-3) and the Blue Dragons (5-1-1). Coming into the contest, Butler led the series 17-11-2, including 6-4 at home (4-3 at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex).
Hutchinson's Isabell Van Fleet scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Olivia Tamaki, at the 8:53 mark in the first half. The Grizzlies immediately responded with a goal of their own. Darya Karabanko got on the board after a beautiful assist from Eva Preister. The goal was Karabanko's first of the season.
From that point on, the game turned into a clash of defenses.
The Grizzlies out-shot Hutchinson 8–6, and Butler goalkeeper Millie Robshaw-Charlesworth recorded three saves on the night.
Next Up: The Grizzlies will be back home on Saturday when they face the Seward Saints at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex at 7 p.m.
