Grizzlies Move onto Region 6 Semifinals After 3-0 Shutout over Seward
EL DORADO, Kan. – The No. 3 seeded Butler Grizzlies defeated the No. 6 seeded Seward County Saints in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 6 Plains District Tournament on Friday afternoon.

EL DORADO, Kan. – The No. 3 seeded Butler Grizzlies defeated the No. 6 seeded Seward County Saints in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 6 Plains District Tournament on Friday afternoon.
The Grizzlies got on the board early in the first half after London Ingram found the back of the net in the 12th minute to take a 1-0 advantage in the first half. The goal by Ingram was the only goal scored in the half.
In the second half, the Grizzlies found the back of the net two more times, coming in a little over the first two minutes into the half. Charlotte Long scored her first goal of the contest in the 45th minute, and Kenedi Smith followed two minutes later in the 47th minute, to take a 3-0 lead over Seward.
Smith's goal was the final goal of the game, as the rest of the second half turned into a defensive battle.
Butler had 20 shots for the game, 13 of them in the second half, along with ten shots on goal. London Ingram and Kenedi Smith each had two shots on goal, and Heide Bartel added one assist. Grizzly goalkeeper Millie Robshaw-Charlesworth had two saves on the day.
The Grizzlies allowed only three Seward shots, two shots on goal. Seward goalkeeper Caroline Benck had seven saves, and allowed three goals scored.
Next up: The Grizzlies now await the winner of Hutchinson and Dodge City. That game will be played tomorrow at 4 p.m. in Hutchinson, Kan.
