The Butler Grizzlies preserved a 21 game conference win streak as well as a 17 game home win streak in a thriller, as the Grizzlies had to come from behind twice, forcing a fifth set and defeating the Colby Trojans for the second time this season, 3-2 (17-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20, 15-12).
The Grizzlies have now won eight straight matches and improve to 8-4 on the season and 4-0 in conference play.
After staying alive in the fourth set, the Grizzlies were face with a decisive fifth set in front of a fantastic Power Plant crowd. Ivy Fink was clutch, earning four kills in the last set to power the Grizzlies home. Rainey Aven chipped in with two kills and a huge ace that forced Colby into a timeout.
The Trojans did end a Grizzly run of six straight home matches without losing a set, but the winning streaks are now extended to 22 matches in conference play without a loss, and 18 matches at home without a loss dating back to two seasons to the Spring 2021 volleyball season.
Butler will have a week off before returning to home action, as Garden City will make their way to the Power Plant next Wednesday at 6:00pm.
