Grizzlies Walk Off Labette, Split with Cardinals

EL DORADO, Kan. – The Butler Grizzlies won game two of the doubleheader against Labette in dramatic fashion from Doug Chance Field on Tuesday Afternoon.
After losing to Labette (15-19) in game one 7-5, the Grizzlies (17-13) came back and won game two 10-9 on Tuesday.
Game 1 (7 inn.) – Labette 7, Butler 5
Labette scored the opening two runs of the contest in the top half of the first inning after a throwing error scored a runner and later an RBI single.
The Grizzlies got on the board in the bottom half of the third inning after Lizzy Lassley hit an RBI single, scoring Haely Hagemann.
Labette scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to extend their lead to 7-1. The Grizzlies had a late rally in the bottom of the seventh, as three different Grizzlies hit homers to cut the deficit to 7-5, but ultimately fell short to Labette, losing 7-5 in game one of the doubleheader.
Anistyn Marcotte (L, 5-3) started in the circle for the Grizzlies and suffered the loss. Marcotte threw five innings and allowed six hits, four runs (three earned), walked one batter and struck out three. Addison Chapman came in the sixth and allowed three hits, three earned runs, walked two batters and struck out two.
Haely Hagemann went 2-4 with two runs, two RBIs, and one home run. Lizzy Lassley also finished 2-4, had one run, two RBIs, and one home run. Kate Free went 2-3, one run, one RBI, and one homer.
Game 2 (7inn.) – Butler 10, Labette 9
Butler made an incredible come back in game 2 of the day. After trailing 9-1 entering the bottom half of the fifth and facing a potential run rule ending, the Grizzly bats got hot.
Butler scored two runs in the fifth, five in the sixth, and two in the seventh. The Grizzlies entered the seventh trailing 9-8. Tatum Steniner reached first on an error and scored Addision Chapman to tie the game at 9 apiece, and Lizzy Lassley reached first by another Labette error, and Beclynn Garrett scored the game-winning run for the Grizzlies. In the loss, Labette finished with seven total errors.

Emillee Stofferahn (W, 3-1) earned the win for the Grizzlies. Stofferahn threw 4.1 innings, allowed just one hit and three runs (0 earned), walked seven batters and struck out three.
Hagemann finished 2-5 with two runs and two RBIs and two home runs. Lassley recorded one hit in three at bats with two runs and one double. Kyplee Jacobson went 2-4, Addison Chapman also went 2-4 with two runs, and Karson Holson went 1-4 with one home run.
Next up: The Grizzlies will host the Seward County Saints on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. from Doug Chance Field.
