The Butler Grizzlies used a stellar fourth quarter to pick up a road win against the Pratt Beavers on Tuesday, winning 70-52 behind Jalia Harding's 17 points.
Jalia was one of three players to finish in double digits, as Emily Mandamin and Kaylee Nero both came off the bench to score 13 points, as the Grizzlies racked up 45 points from their bench in the win.
The final score ended up not showing how competitive the game was as the contest featured nine ties and seven lead changes. The Grizzlies trailed by one point at the halftime break but Butler outscored Pratt 41-20 in the second half, blowing the game wide open with the dominant fourth quarter.
It was a great offensive night for the Grizzlies, shooting 41% from the field and making seven three point shots. The Grizzlies racked up 19 assists, led by Harding and MeKayla Furman who both had five.
The Grizzlies were stifling defensively as well, holding the Beavers to just 27% from the field, and 26% from three point range. The Grizzlies won the battle of the boards, finishing with 44, led by Furman with eight. They also forced 22 Pratt turnovers, cashing in 11 points off those turnovers. The Grizzlies also allowed only eight second chance points.
The win keeps Butler within arms reach of the conference title race, as they improve to 14-5 on the year, and 9-5 in conference play. Butler also improves to 5-4 on the road this season, snapping a two game losing streak away from home. They'll look to keep the winning ways in hostile territory on Saturday, traveling to Coffeyville to face the Red Ravens with a chance to sweep their longtime rivals after defeating the Ravens when the two teams faced off at the Power Plant in December.
